What we say:

Many moons ago the Crystal Beach hotel, this ageing building is run by the same crew behind the Little Mermaid in Kata. The rooms have received a mini-makeover — the fresh coat of paint helps, but the cheap Thai trinkets tacked to the walls don't add anything at all and the outdated furniture certainly doesn't help. Most rooms have one double bed, but 14 of them have twin beds. All rooms have satellite TV, hot-water showers, and a mini-bar stocked with more booze than what's available at most grocery stores. To be honest, we wouldn't really stay here unless we were coming to Karon for a bender — in which case the fridge would be a major selling point. If you are looking for more tranquility, be sure to snag a room at the back of the hotel as this area of Karon gets quite busy at night. They accept credit cards without any extra fee, and if you don't have your own laptop to take advantage of the free WiFi, 20B will get you unlimited access at the computers in the lobby. Add 100B/person for a feast of a breakfast at the adjoining restaurant.
