This backpacker favourite is now in Karon too

Formerly the Crystal Beach hotel, this ageing building been assimilated by the popular Scandinavian eatery. The rooms have received a mini-makeover -- the fresh coat of paint helps, but the cheap Thai trinkets tacked to the walls don't add anything at all. Most rooms have one double bed, but 14 of them have two twin beds. All rooms have satellite TV, hot water showers, and a mini-bar stocked with more booze than what's available at some grocery stores. They accept credit cards without any extra fee, and if you don't have your own laptop to take advantage of the free WiFi, 20B will get you unlimited access at the computers in the lobby. Add 100B/person for a feast of a breakfast at the adjoining restaurant.

* Travelfish researchers visit and review properties on an anonymous basis. By that we mean they show up, in person, and pretend to be either be a potential guest, or somebody looking for a room for a friend or relative. Where possible the researcher will inspect at least a couple of rooms. The rates you see above are what either the desk staff told us they were, or what were in the brochure when they just told us to quit bugging them and look in the brochure.
