What we say:

We snickered at the Sugar Palm brochure with photos of gorgeous 20-somethings rough-housing in the pool and a description that alleges this new resort is ultra-hip, but it's true: the atmosphere here really is more youthful than anywhere else in Karon. The colours are bold, the rooms are modern, and the clientele is young — hell, they advertise on Facebook! However, families will also love this place with the massive lawn and pool well suited for children. Every room is air-con with satellite TV, free WiFi, a fully-stocked mini-bar, and a hot shower. The pool access rooms have giant LCD TVs with Apple computer access — vey swank and worth the small price bump. The lobby has an extensive DVD and book collection with tour services on site. Rates below are subject to taxes and service charges, but it's easy to find a much better promotional price online. Rates also vary according to occupancy so if Sugar Palm is full you can try Malai House — an attached, more budget-friendly hotel next door. Both recommended.

Highly recommended

The hotel was great! We loved it. The rooms are spacious, clean, and really, really nice. It's a two-minute walk to the beach. It has a nice pool. We booked this hotel because it was one of the cheapest, but ended up really liking our stay in Phuket in great part because of the hotel. Book it through expedia.com it came out US$20US with taxes included for a standard room. You can pay 3 dollars more for breakfast for 2.
