Across from the beach, the South Sea Karon Resort is a well-designed resort. The quality is high and everything from the lobby to the pool deck is tastefully done in a somewhat muted Thai style. The atmosphere is almost like that of an apartment complex, with the rooms in a contemporary low-rise building around a central pool with a floating bar. It's one of the few places we've seen in the area with good wheelchair access -- possibly because it's a hit with ancient foreigners traveling with their very young Thai girlfriends. The deluxes are ever so slightly larger than the standard rooms, and all have air-con, TV, mini-bars, coffee makers, and a full set of toiletries. The staff are very friendly and you get a big basket of tropical fruit on check-in. The following are online promotional rates and include breakfast, taxes, and service charges.
