Kata On Sea Bungalow
Not on the sea but cheap

What we say:
This cluster of bungalows is set behind a 7-eleven and up a steep hill that can be a bit of a nightmare to clamber up in the wee hours of the morning. If climbing during the day, you will be overjoyed to first see the pool at Kata On Sea ,but most likely disappointed in the rooms. The place has however been popular with backpackers for some time, and it seems that this is one place that hasn't hacked up its prices. Rooms are basic but spacious, with good views of the hills and the town below — and yes, from some rooms you can see the ocean — way off in the distance. The prices are just what we like to see and Kata On Sea attracts a lot of long-term visitors — it's normally full in the high season, so call ahead if you can. WiFi is available for a 50B starting fee.

Nice, Easy-going, I liked it a lot
There's wireless internet for free, and my room was cleaned every day for me when I got back home. When I returned from a visa run, Kate gave me a long term rate. I like being close to Kata Beach Road as well as Patak, and I can get to Chalong Circle or Patong in 10-15 minutes.

Your Experience. Not Mine.
Where does bakalava lover get off dismissing my negative experience with this place? FYI- This had been my 2nd stay with KOSB. The first was pleasant which is why I booked there again. Thanks for letting me know they over charged me for our room. We stayed in your same room type and where charged 3X the amount you were. The owners are also apparently, discriminating CHEATS as well as drunkards. How could you miss the Mekong bottle on the table in front of Deng and his buddies? I noticed it as well as my partner. My 2nd experience at this place was negative and crazy. BE WARNED.

Perfect on sea !
We stayed four days in January and returned for a further ten days in February, we loved the place, and the location was excellent, we paid 450B for a fan bungalow with a fridge and for the money were impressed as the room was cleaned every day and every two days we got clean linen. The owner Gip and her husband Deng were wonderfully friendly and helped us a lot. We had many informative chats with them. We were invited to eat with them and their family and their hospitality was wonderful, (they are certainly NOT alcoholics!) They have kids and are very family oriented relaxed and easygoing. Gip even woke us up early when we had to leave and waited to wave us off. Would highly recommend this place for anyone who wants cheap clean and safe. The previous posters nasty comments havn't done any harm as the place was full !!
