Description
This cluster of bungalows is set up a steep hill behind a 7-eleven, that can be a bit of a nightmare to clamber up in the wee hours of the morning. The place has been popular with backpackers for some time as it seems that this is one place that hasn't hacked up the prices like every where else. Local owners Kate and Mr Dang are friendly but they go to sleep at 9pm every night, so don't lose your key, or you may be sleeping outside with their dogs. The rooms are basic, but spacious and pleasant, with good views of the hills and the town below -- and yes, from some rooms you can see the ocean -- way off in the distance. The prices are just what we like to see and Kata On Sea attracts a lot of long-term visitors -- it's normally full in the high season, so call ahead if you can. Then again, every time we visit the place they're building more and more bungalows, so give it a shot.
