Amongst the disappointing luxury resorts, it's a joy to come across a true budget haven that really gets it right. It's set on a steep hill, with a variety of rooms that are much better than you'd expect for the price. All rooms come with balcony and sitting area looking out over the paved courtyard below which is engulfed in plant life. They also rent three newly built houses that can sleep four to six people and have huge verandas out front, complete with dining table and chairs. The houses are spacious, spotlessly clean and very comfortable. Cheap breakfasts are also available. If you've got a pack on your back and you know the value of a baht down to the tenth of a cent, you'll head straight here.

* Travelfish researchers visit and review properties on an anonymous basis. By that we mean they show up, in person, and pretend to be either be a potential guest, or somebody looking for a room for a friend or relative. Where possible the researcher will inspect at least a couple of rooms. The rates you see above are what either the desk staff told us they were, or what were in the brochure when they just told us to quit bugging them and look in the brochure. For mid-range hotels and up, always shop around online for a competitive rate. Click here to find out more about what makes Travelfish different with regards our accommodation reviews.

Great place, I agree. - 24th February, 2007
Paid 600B for a small bungalow with air-con and hot water. Smaller than the 1,000B (not 800B) air-con rooms in the hotel section. No screens on my door or window though except the 400B fan rooms do have.

Love this place! - 16th December, 2006
I stayed at Fantasy Hill for a month (minus four days for a trip to the Similan Islands) and I loved the experience. The owners are absolutely lovely and very caring for their guests. During last night's blackout, Ao (sp?) was waiting in the driveway with a flashlight (torch) as I returned, waiting for the other guests who had not yet returned. Can you imagine? Terrific rates beat those of every other traveler I spoke with. Off the street location means it's not too noisy, although you can sometimes (barely) hear the Elvis impersonator down the street. I found that quaint. Fivwe minute walk to either Kata or Karon beach. STAY HERE. STAY HERE. STAY HERE!
