What we say:

It doesn't look like much from the road, but this resort is deceptively large, featuring more than 200 rooms and three pools meandering up the hillside behind the main office. The standard rooms are just average and the extra cost of a deluxe is probably money well spent, with buffed concrete floors and modern fixings. The grounds are lush and give the rooms a fair degree of privacy. The resort is a five-minute walk up a steep hill from Kata beach and a 10-minute stroll to Karon. Service is excellent and the staff speak exceptional English, with a hint of a Texan accent which is as strange as it is endearing. If you head to the pool bar you are sure to hear some Shakira blasting and the staff enjoying their time making cocktails. If staying during the holiday season, beware of expensive gala dinners which are compulsory.
