Backpackers rejoice -- budget accommodations do exist in this part of Phuket! Scattered along the entire length of rocky Ao Sane you'll find a dozen or so cheap beach bungalows. The bungalows are fan-cooled and you won't find any TVs or mini-bars here, but they are right on the beach and have balconies with seaviews that could compete with the highest-priced of resorts. Some of the older bungalows are looking run-down and have cruddy bathrooms, but the newer wood-panelled bungalows are more solid and even have a hot shower. The staff are usually too busy going about their own business to bother much with selling rooms, so ask for the keys and check out a few before settling in. You're pretty isolated here -- but that's part of the charm. There's a restaurant on premises doing cheap Thai food and snorkels can be rented for 150B.
