If you're bored stiff by Phuket's typical resorts with elephant fountains and swim-up bars, Baan Krating might be exactly what you're looking for. Like the name suggests, it really is a top-quality resort set half in the jungle and half on the beach. Their bungalows are set amid a profusion of tropical greenery with leafy palms everywhere and the constant hum of cicadas. The bungalows have all the fixings like air-con and satellite TV and are tastefully decorated in neutral colours with dark wood accents. WiFi can be purchased for 450B per day. Each bungalow has a balcony with outdoor seating and is connected to the restaurant and swimming pool by wooden walkways. However, the wood on the walkways is starting to wear and could be replaced. The resort has its own little patch of private beach and snorkels and sea kayaks can be rented from reception. Baan Krating is recommended if it's within your budget, and even if it's not try searching online for big low season discounts.
