Very popular and family-friendly

As one of the largest properties on the beach and the most family-friendly resort in Patong, the 397-room Holiday Inn attracts a steady year-round crowd and, in particular, is a favourite of Australians.
The resort and its facilities and services are all-inclusive; two pools with swim-up bars, restaurants, a spa and fitness centre, kids' club, a minimart, and even their own Thai cooking classes. The bar nearest to the lobby has a massive projection screen for movies and sports with cosy couches. Its Sam’s Steak House restaurant is a top spot, and worth a visit even if you’re not staying here. There are two wings of very spacious and comfortable rooms classified into a half-dozen different room types. The kids' suites are among the best that you'll find in Thailand; fun pirate or jungle themes, bunk beds, toy boxes, and DVD players and X-boxes for all your electronic babysitting needs. The pool complex is lovely, although sometimes full of drunken Aussies, but the kids pool is completely separate from the main pool so your children can enjoy it for themselves. The beach is just across the road and the 24-hour security will even serve as your personal crossing guard. A good family option right across from the beach.
