As the largest property on the beach and the most family-friendly resort in Patong, The Holiday Inn attracts a steady year-round crowd and, in particular, is a favourite of Australians. The resort and its facilities and services are all-inclusive -- two pools with swim-up bars, restaurants, a fitness centre, kid's club, a mini-mart, and even their own Thai cooking classes. There are two wings of very spacious and comfortable rooms classified into a half dozen different room types. The kids suites are among the best that you'll find in Thailand -- fun pirate or jungle themes, bunk beds, toy boxes, and DVD players and X-boxes for all your electronic baby-sitting needs. The pool complex is lovely, although sometimes full of drunken Aussies, but the beach is just across the road and the 24-hour security will even serve as your personal crossing guard.
