There were more motorbikes than guests in the otherwise empty lobby of the colourless Wasana Guest House and the staff seemed surprised to get a customer. Located right on the busy market road near the songthaew stop to go to the beaches, this aging cheapy is getting some stiff competition from Phuket Backpackers next door. The rooms haven't changed in years and are very, very basic with a bed, western-style bathroom, and no other amenities. If you are going to stay here ask for a room on one of the higher floors so your view is of something other than the dirty tin roof of the neighbouring building.
