The Phuket Crystal Inn (not the unrelated Crystal Guest House across the street) is a centrally located mid-class hotel near Phuket Town's shopping centres and cinemas. The 54 rooms are nothing fancy but a big step up from a guesthouse. The hotel is contemporary and all rooms are with air-con, cable TV, a mini-fridge and hot water showers. The views out the windows are all uniformly terrible, but the thick curtains do a good job blocking it out. There's a cafe in the lobby and a pleasant massage parlour next door. This is a popular place and often full year-round, so book in advance.

* Travelfish researchers visit and review properties on an anonymous basis. By that we mean they show up, in person, and pretend to be either be a potential guest, or somebody looking for a room for a friend or relative. Where possible the researcher will inspect at least a couple of rooms. The rates you see above are what either the desk staff told us they were, or what were in the brochure when they just told us to quit bugging them and look in the brochure. Not bad - 24th June, 2007
OK for the price. Great location downtown near Robinsons, cafes and the street market. A great improvement over the dismal Talang Guesthouse.

Enjoyed my stay here. Price was ok. It was just my jump off point to Ko Phi Phi. Great to stay here for my last night in Thailand.

Really tried... - 6th February, 2007
...no I did NOT stay at the Crystal Inn. I was successfully defended trying to make a reservation. They do not bother answering emails, phonecalls to the barely english speaking guys result in ''bookings'' that nobody knows of if you call one week later wondering where your confirmation email got lost. Looks like a nice place on their page but I would not rtely on having a room waiting when you arrive from the airport in the middle of the night. What a pity.
