Phuket Merlin Hotel
Phuket Town's landmark hotel

What we say:
It’s a bit of a hike from the centre of Phuket town but if you're after a reliable upmarket hotel the Merlin is a fine choice. They have a big swimming pool, coffee shop, Chinese banquet restaurant, spa, and a few bars that are popular with regional tourists. The rooms are clean and fully equipped with recently renovated bathrooms. The few extra square metres you get with a deluxe room isn't worth the bump up in price and it's best to get one of these at the back of the hotel for pool and green views. On the upside, the suites are huge with a separate living room area and have some panoramic city views. The staff are very professional and a free shuttle bus runs to the Merlin Hotel in Patong. Was full at time of research, so do book ahead.
