This rambling, old-style guesthouse on scenic Thalang Rd. has three storeys of spacious, comfortable rooms with ceiling fans and hot showers. Inside the rooms are cheerfully painted and, in addition to the beds (one, two or three), have night tables, wardrobes, and small desks. There is a small library of paperbacks and travel guides on the stairway leading up to the second floor and a good collection of brochures, maps, and other travel advice in the reception area. Some of the smaller rooms have air-con and the staff will switch it on for an extra 100B. Securing their title at Phuket Town's top budget spot, rates include a breakfast of toast, fruit, and tea or coffee.

Thalang Guesthouse reviews

Unsure - 4th August, 2009
Large rooms, not kept too well, with worn interiors and tacky mismatched furniture. We had to move late at night as the staff had sprayed a toxic smelling mosquito spray in the room. We were refunded our money no problem. Good location but try to book ahead and get the rooms at the front with the balconies.

it´s ok - 30th March, 2009
I stayed 2 nights there. I got a single room with fan and bathroom for THB280/night. It´s centrally located, between the bus station and the songthaews stop.

Rough and warn. - 31st January, 2007
Much worse than I expected. Maybe I am not used to the bottom end guest houses but this is for the seriously frugal. I stayed one night and moved on in the morning. Strong smell of insecticide. Double with air-con 450B

Basic But Good - 22nd August, 2009
I stumbled upon this guesthouse after discovering that my first choice was closed and in the midst of heavy duty refurbishing. I got a free standing room on the roof for 300 baht which was was quite large with a colour scheme I wouldn't have personally chosen. However it was quiet and comfortable with soap and mineral water supplied. The staff there were also good. Forthcoming with information. The free breakfast was also a bonus. Couldn't say I was seduced by the charms of Phuket Town but I was impressed with the manager here.

Bedbugs! - 1st August, 2009
I liked everything about the place -- atmospheric big room, friendly staff, striking heritage building, great location, good price -- but the bedbugs drove me out after one night.

Good value. - 29th November, 2008
We stayed 2 nights, dbl A/C room with private bathroom 450B per night. Safety box in room, bring own padlock. Free breakfast (toast, marmalade, banana, and coffee/tea). Spacious room, friendly staff, good central location. Best to book ahead, others we arrived with had not booked and had to go elsewhere. Request a balcony room if poss. Enjoyed our stay here.
