Description
This very comfortable, old-style rambling guesthouse on scenic Thalang Rd has some huge rooms, all with fan and shower, spread over its three storeys. Air-con is available in some rooms. Room 34 on the roof is massive, but gets hot during the day. The Thalang is a very friendly, family-run place and is far better value than the On On. Avoid the second floor street-side rooms if you want to sleep in after 07:00.

Not as good as guidebooks made us believe. Very nearby, on 42 Krabi Road, is a brand new hostel from the same owner. It's called OT Guesthouse (OT stands for Old Town). It's much cleaner, there is internet and a double costs 280 bht; breakfast included. Rooms with daylight, but as far as I know only shared bathrooms. I think that next time we'll probably stay at this place.

Much worse than I expected. Maybe I am not used to the bottom end guest houses but this is for the seriously frugal. I stayed one night and moved on in the morning. Strong smell of insecticide. Double with air-con 450B
