Thavorn Grand Plaza has been open since 1966 with new dorms that are the best kept secret in Phuket Town. The massive hotel looks more like a rundown hospital from the outside but don't let that deceive you. The dorm rooms all have air-con, two sets of bunk-beds and are on one floor of the hotel with its own social area. On the massive deck with one of the highest views of Phuket Town, use the free WiFi and enjoy a drink from the on-site bar. Inside, there's new computers, giant flat screen TVs and a free book exchange — not to mention tons of couches. Deluxe rooms are simply a dorm room without the bunks and really aren't worth the price. If all this isn’t enough for you, the hotel provides free shuttles to and from Karon beach everyday, beach towel included. If you'd rather stay in town, splash in one of the two pools at Thavorn. Though this is great place to stay to explore the night market around Robinson's, it remains empty — but people will catch on. Book online to receive free breakfast.
