Set on large grounds amid fragrant greenery at the northern end of Surin Beach, graced with spectacular views through the fronded palms, you'll find the Chedi, well back from the main road, on a big freakin' hill. Okay, we walked up one two many hills the day we reviewed this place, but that doesn't mean this isn't a first-class, high-quality resort from top to bottom, because it is. We found the grounds enchanting, and were refreshed by the site of the beautiful wooden-floored bungalows with their faux-thatched rooves and tasteful interiors. There are gorgeous pools, a great stretch of beach, and they go out of their way to add nice touches -- like giving every kid who stays here a free bucket of beach toys. You'll get a high-level of a personal service, despite the fact that it's a large resort. At the end of the day, however, it's overpriced--but they offer all sorts of deals and promotions, so definitely check out their website.
