K Place
Bland but good value

What we say:
Located just off Naretdamri Road behind an optician, this bland multi-storey guesthouse offers reasonable value for money. The huge rooms are spotless and get even bigger as the price goes up. All rooms have air-con, hot water, TV and fridge. The top balcony has a pleasant area for relaxing in. The white exterior gives a sanitised feeling. The staff are friendly enough without being overly enthusiastic, they have limited English so be sure to carry a phrase book for more detailed conversation than just basics. The entrance can be a bit difficult to find, but once you find the sign above the optician shop just duck down the alley and the reception is right by the massage shop. It does seem that business is slow here, mainly due to its hidden location, but the place is definitely worth a look. You may want to ask for a hefty discount in the quieter months.

Dirty room
Room was dirty. Staff was nice, but didnt speak lot of English. 800bahts for room like this is too much. Avoid this place, you find better use for your money.

Great Value
There are 12 rooms in this 3 storey guesthouse across from the World News Coffee shop (near the Hilton). The location is great (not on the beach, but close, and near most shops/restaurants/etc). Prices were 800, 900 or 1,000 as of 3/09, depending on the room. My wife & I found our 800 baht room on the 3rd floor (room #10) to be a winner. There is a massage shop downstairs (they will also come to room) but no restaurant. Staff were friendly. Note: I checked out 3 rooms, and I didn't care for the 1,000 baht room with carpet. The cheaper rooms have tile, which is better in my opinion.
