Description
We received no smiles from the owner of the Happy Inn, but maybe she was having a bad day. As the name suggests, this is a motel-style place, with concrete rooms behind a front house on the beach road. The bungalows are teeny tiny, but cute and clean as a whistle. They extend down to the estuary out back--the slow-moving, mangrove-lined Klong Bangnangrom, where a roofed porch offers a pleasant place to sit and relax as the sun sets. Those strange-looking wooden racks in the water are used to cultivate oysters.

Located on the beach to the northern side of town over the bridge and past some fresh seafood restaurants, the Golden Beach Hotel offers clean, bright rooms with tile floors. There used to be bungalows out back, but they've been torn down and a large addition to the hotel is being built.... more
