Yuttichai Hotel
As good as ever

What we say:
A stone's throw from the train station in the centre of town and offering great value rooms and friendly service, the Yuttichai remains one of the best spots for those travelling on a budget. There are two room choices: smaller wooden fan rooms upstairs above the reception entrance with shared bathrooms and, to the rear, better and more spacious concrete rooms with private bathrooms. There are also a couple of air-con rooms downstairs behind reception. Staff are happy to do all they can to help, and there is a small coffee shop. Bicycles are available at 60 baht per day, and motorbikes at 200 baht per day, as are internet and printing facilities -- though, at 20 baht per page, the latter is extortionate. Limited WiFi signal is available but not included in the room rates. Highly recommended.

Cheap, clean but noisy
Stayed 3 nights, good location, between railway-station and pier, across the nightmarket. Small town with a nice vibe. Payed 250 baht a night for a ''single room'', room with a small, very hard, double bed. Fan, TV and private facilities. Clean and big room. Breakfast is decent, no restaurant, but loads of snacks (cheap). Nice family run guesthouse, but the family and neighbors make allot of noise, specially early morning (6:30).

Not the best choice in town
Clean yes, close to the station yes, but unless you are on a very tight budget then you can do so much better. It is very noisy and the smell of the toilets rather unpleasant at times. It's not that it is bad, and it is good value if you are travelling alone, but it is not great value compared to other places in town. If you can afford a few more baht then do yourself a favour and walk past the hotel in the direction of the beach, take the 2nd road on the right. After a few hundred metres turn right into a quiet street almost opposite the Tesco Express. Here you will find the Nopporn Hotel: new King Size bed, well furnished hotel standard room, hot shower, aircon, cable tv, free wifi, free coffee, swimming pool....for 400 baht a night.

Nice and clean
A good place to stay due to its central location. The double rooms, which are located at the back of the building, cost 300 Baht now. If you take the 160 Baht room which faces the street, the noise from the traffic could wake you up. Spacious and airy, the room is on the comfortable side. The owner speaks English, and laundry is very affordable at 5 Baht a piece (8 if you need ironing).

Clean, good value but noisy at night
I stayed in a 160THB fan room which was very clean and quite cute. The shared bathroom was a little dirty the first day but clean the next. The hotel is on a main road so I was woken three times in the night by motorbikes roaring by, but I am a light sleeper. The rooms in the quad would probably be quieter. The staff were very nice.
