What we say:

The small satellite island of Ko Kham off Ko Phayam has some reasonable snorkelling (for Phayam) round the back but sharp rocks just offshore make it difficult to get into the water from the beach. Access to the water is easier from the side of the island facing Ko Phayam so you could swim round to the back of the island if you're a decent swimmer. We couldn't visit because the tide was in when we were in the area visiting the Phayam Resort (which is opposite Ko Kham) and had no way of getting there apart from swimming. It's possible to swim over there but we had no fins and there are sometimes quite strong currents. However the manager at Phayam Resort kindly gave us the mobile phone number so we called Mr Lo to ask about the place. According to Mr Lo, the bungalows cost 300-400B and all have bathrooms. There's electricity in the evenings but no fans. The resort provides free transport to and from the pier if you call in advance and there's free transport to the village twice a day as well. The resort is open from October until the rains start. Ko Kham Resort might interest Robinson Crusoe types wanting to get away from it all but could be a little claustrophobic too as the island is quite small and there's rather a lack of things to do.
