Kiwi Orchid Guest House

Who said bus stations were boring?

The guesthouse with the coolest decorations in Ranong, Kiwi Orchid was started by a New Zealander man and his Thai wife a few years ago. It's just next to the bus station and is a great place to chill out for a few hours if you're waiting for a ride out of town. The rooms upstairs have a personal touch and there's a nice hangout area up there as well. The staff are a good source of information on further travels in the area.

Okay if no where else to stay - 25th November, 2009
Could do with a coat of paint on the outside, upstairs lounge area a little threadbare. Room I stayed in had a lot of ants. Good tourist info service though. Good food.

Loved it here - 15th March, 2008
Everyone is friendly and the atmosphere here is pleasant and enjoyable for relaxation eating good food and drinking beer during the rains. I enjoyed my stay here and hope to see everyone at the Kiwi Orchid again in October, it's a wonderful place to stay.

Please Avoid - 8th February, 2009
This place will only appeal to those looking to meet and chat with travellers who enjoy drinking and smoking the night away. The rooms cost THB250 and are not en-suite. The overall place has an air of neglect and disrepair. The restaurant charges ridiculous prices for water and beer which don’t match the quality of the establishment. There are cleaner and friendlier guesthouses in the centre of town (approximately 2km). The owners lack charm and chase every possible bath. They were not too happy to supply free information regarding the visa-run trip to Myanmar.
