Description
In a huge hotel block, rooms at Ranong Garden have rich, red carpet, aging furniture and unadorned walls. Catering mainly for Thai business travellers, the Ranong Garden doesn't have a great location -- it sits on the highway at the very end of Ruangrat Rd. There is a large, cafeteria-style restaurant and few other typical facilities.

Kiwi Orchid Guest House
Next to Ranong's bus station, Phetkasem Rd, Ranong
The guesthouse with the coolest decorations in Ranong, Kiwi Orchid was started by a New Zealander man and his Thai wife a few years ago. It's just next to the bus station and is a great place to chill out for a few hours if you're waiting for a ride out of town. The rooms upstairs have a personal... more
Thansila Resort
129/2 Soi Thara, Phetkasem Rd, Ranong
Gorgeous! This has to be the best value for money around Ranong. The highlights are the cozy-as-they-come ground floor rooms with little balconies over the fast flowing Khlong Had Sompan river. They're fully furnished and some have little bathtubs. There's cheaper rooms upstairs and one small dorm... more
TV Bar (Bangsan)
225 Ruangrat Rd, Ranong
The TV Bar has a lounge worthy of being Austin Powers' living room. Old TVs are put to good use as stools, coffee tables and an aquarium, and the wallpaper is straight out of the swinging '60s. The rooms upstairs have been renovated and are clean and simple. This is the best value cheapie in... more
Suta House Bungalows
Ruangrat Rd, Ranong
The fully equipped air-con bungalows at Suta House are a bargain at 370B. Since it's set well of the main road, noise here is no problem and Suta is quite a relaxed spot. There's a pint-sized bar at the bungalows and plenty more around this end of the street. All of the bungalows come with TV and... more
Asia Hotel
39/9 Ruangrat Rd, Ranong
Another big white elephant of an earlier age, Asia Hotel is slightly dirtier, but friendlier, than Sin Ranong. There's a bigger variety of rooms and air-con available here as... more
The Springs Guest House
Kamlangsap Rd, Ranong
This is a good budget choice if you're coming to Ranong specifically to see the hot springs. Unlike most of the rooms in town, the lodgings here are fresh and new, and it's naturally within walking distance of the springs. There's a cool little cafe downstairs with a pool... more
Rattanasin Hotel
266 Ruangrat Rd, Ranong
Possibly older than the city of Ranong itself, the Rattanasin used to pull in backpackers when it was the only lodgings offering 100B rooms. Those days are now over, and the Rattanasin is frankly looking over the hill as well. Though the rooms are run-down, the beds are relatively new, and the... more
The Wood House
281/283 Ruangrat Rd, Ranong
With a funky restaurant downstairs, decorated with motorcycle drawings, the Wood House feels good, despite it being old and a bit worn out. The rooms are cleaner than most others in this section of Ruangrat... more
Sintavee Hotel
81/1-2 Ruangrat Rd, Ranong
A grand old building, rooms at Sintavee are slightly better than the other options close to the market, but noise from the street is a problem if you get one of the rooms at the front. The downstairs lobby has walls filled with interesting tidbits about activities around... more
Sin Ranong
Ruangrat Rd, Ranong
This big old hotel is utterly lacking in personality, and personality goes a long way. Broken flush toilets, boring rooms and surly staff don't do it any favours either. The Sin has a handy location just across from the market, but there are better and cheaper places to stay in... more
