Description
Scattered down a hillside overlooking Panka Noi Bay, these bungalows give a sense of seclusion from lower-lying areas of the island. Panka Noi is a rocky stretch of mangroves and sand, so not really suitable for swimming. The sturdy bungalows are built of concrete and brick and each has a private porch with two chairs. Inside the bungalows have been well-maintained and have big beds and a fan. Their open bathrooms with stone-covered floors are nicely designed, though the glass shard-studded concrete walls can be either disturbing or reassuring. The most recently built bungalows are the ones nearest the beach and these are more spacious than the others, although also slightly more expensive. The bungalows further up the hill are clean and comfortable, and some have excellent views of the limestone karst formations in the bay. Viewpoint's restaurant is more expensive than other options nearby, so is often closed if there aren't many guests.

Steep but peaceful -
By islandboi321 ( total comments: 3  More information please ) Stayed here 3/2007
I stayed here in Mar. 2007.
Nice accommodation. My bungalow was 500 baht. The grounds are lush and lovely, but steep going, although the paths are paved with stone. There is no beach here, but there is bar. It was VERY quiet whilst I was here. Staff friendly, if you even seen them. Bungalow was comfortable. 2 large beds, good linen and washroom was large. Nice veranda to sit out on with a nice view of Karst islands in the Andaman sea.
If you come to Bulon Lae, there will be a representative to come meet you and take your bags if you decide to stay.
Bring a torch! You will need it for night if you are going to be eating at the Bulon Resort or the Pansand in the evening... There are also a few places to eat at Mango Bay. It is easy to get lost going over island in the dark.

Ban Sulaida Restaurant and Bungalows
Inland, Ko Bulon Lae
Though Sulaida and other staff speak only rudimentary English, their friendliness more than makes up for it. The tidy bungalows stretch across the paved path to the Chao Lay village. Inside, the bungalows are spacious and tidy with wooden plank floors and big windows. The mattresses aren't the most... more

School Bungalows
Near the main beach, Ko Bulon Lae
The name may seem unusual, but it will make sense once you see the place: the bungalows here are set along the edge of the school's football field, and the owner Don is the head teacher at the nearby village school. The bungalows here have been built in single row on a large, cleared plot of land,... more

Panka Bay Resort
Panka Bay, Ko Bulon Lae
The natural beauty of Panka Bay attracts a stream of loyal visitors to the Panka Bay Resort. Perhaps because the mangrove-lined beach is rocky and less than perfect for swimming, there are fewer families here and more long-term guests who come to Bulon seeking peace and quiet. The bungalows here... more

Chao Le Homestay
Inland, Ko Bulon Lae
If you're not promptly welcomed by the spirited lady who runs Chao Le Homestay, you'll know you've found it when you're standing under a trellis with a shark silhouette. The name's a bit misleading as accommodation here are not with a home-stay program, but in rustic wood and thatch bungalows just... more

Jungle Huts
Inland, Ko Bulon Lae
If you're seeking simplicity and seclusion, look no further than Jungle Huts. In an unexpected location half-way along the forested trail to Mango Bay, Jungle Huts are a great bargain so long as you don't mind the long walk to Bulon's white-sand beach. The bungalows are solidly built upon concrete... more
