Fisheries Department Bungalows
An abandoned atmosphere, but the best value on Lip
Sunset Beach, Ko Lipe
Satun Province

Description
Despite the utilitarian name, these are lovely but basic bungalows tucked away on the rocky end of Sunset beach. The beach at this end is greyish, but the water here is just as crystalline as elsewhere on Lipe. Snorkelling masks and fins can be hired for 100B. There are six bungalows right on the beach with attached bathrooms. Ask for bungalow number one -- if available, it's got the most panoramic view, though all of the bungalows overlook Ko Adang. Sometimes there are rooms available in the buildings where the employees stay -- most of these share bathrooms. The bungalows are run by a talkative government employee who speaks good English, but locating someone who works here isn't always easy. There is sometimes a room available here even when everywhere else on the beach is full -- have a seat and be patient. The restaurant operates only during the low season when the other restaurants are closed, though guests are welcome to hang out at the tables. The Fisheries Department bungalows are open all year.
