Pooh's is a little slice of civilisation, but you pay for it. Immensely popular with the must-reserve-online-before-we-arrive set, Pooh's has the least appealing location on Lipe -- a good hike to any of the beaches. Their bungalows are actually longhouse rooms: they're dark and cool, with a rather pre-fab feel. Each has a nice, open-air bathroom, for those with a penchant for high-quality fixtures. Pooh's a mainlander who's been on Lipe for years, and has cultivated the offbeat, hospitable environment many tourists have come to expect when staying in other parts of Thailand. Pooh's can refill plastic water bottles (10B) and is one of the few places with an Internet connection -- although it isn't cheap at 3B/minute. During the low season, Pooh's usually has someone around -- send an email first to be sure of it. Visa and Mastercard are accepted for a 3% fee.
