Built in two rows trailing back from Pattaya beach, Varin's bright swordfish sign and large reception area give the first-time visitor a garish impression. Thankfully, most bungalows are of the wood-and-woven variety, and are one of the more affordable rooms on Pattaya Beach. Bungalows stretch back from the shore in long columns -- and are all the same size and have identical furnishings. All rooms have 24 hour electricity, big windows, en-suite bathrooms, towels, and a private terrace with chairs. The beds are reasonably comfortable and the pillows are divine. Longhouse rooms are the cheapest, but there's no soundproofing whatsoever, so it's best for those who can sleep through every nuance of conversations on either side. The best option for most travellers is the mid-range fan bungalows. The VIP villa has a TV with satellite channels. Varin's restaurant is rather overpriced and there are better options nearby. Open November to April. Recommended.
