Andaman Resort
Rows of cookie-cutter bungalows on a shaded beach

What we say:
The Andaman Resort has been on Lipe for quite some time, and while the massive grounds are situated on one of the best and most quiet stretches of sand on Sunrise beach, the place is showing its age. The bungalows are plentiful and packed tightly together in rows, giving the resort a mass-produced look to it. The most expensive bungalows are on the beachfront, but the others sprawl across and back from the curve of Sunrise beach. The bamboo bungalows are literally falling apart, and are terrible value compared to what you get at nearby Lipe Beach Resort and elsewhere. Still, the better maintained air-con rooms are spacious and clean. Each have queen sized beds or two separate single bedsand en suite Western bathrooms with cold water showers. The best ones have big windows, TVs and fridges. There is an on-site restaurant and bakery, and credit cards are accepted for a 5% fee.

Great location
We stayed in a concrete bungalow just steps away from the water. Views were fabulous. Food was good in restaurant but we only ate there once. Many good restaurants are within easy walking distance. Our bungalow bathroom had a dripping water faucet and floor not slanted enough for water to drain properly, so the bathroom was always in 1 inch deep water. Price was 800B. Even with a water problem, location was so good we stayed for 6 nights. Not too crowded as beginning of low season.

Just okay
Stayed here in Mar. 2007. Very busy resort. Impersonal, but not unfriendly. Mrs Won, the efficient manager at the front desk, certainly is a good business woman. The bamboo bungalows (500B) are difficult to get over holiday time but the blue roofed concrete bungalows were available. As Mrs Won said, ''You can stay here many day... But no stay in bamboo bungalow!'' They were 600B a night and were quite alright. You are close to the beach here and have a nice view of Ko Adang. The beach between Andaman resort and Mountainview Resort is very stunning, but there is lots of broken glass and rubbish on the beach and in the water. Food is very good at Andaman, although not cheap (nothing is cheap on Ko Lipe!) I'd stay there again as I think it is predictable.
