What we say:

Small Serene Resort is located just up from Pooh's on Walking Street, so it's a good five minutes' walk to either Sunrise or Pattaya beach, but if you don't mind the location and are looking either for good value comfort, or not so good value simplicity, the Serene is worth a look. In front are some modern air-con rooms with hot-water bathrooms that have stylish and relatively spacious interiors in a white and green theme. There are similar but smaller air-con rooms in the back. All air-con rooms have satellite TVs and comfortable beds, and they're among the cheapest rooms with air-con on Lipe. In between the upmarket rooms are six tiny bamboo bungalows with nothing but a fan, thin mattress on the floor, and basic open-air bathrooms. These are cheap, but considering they're so far from the beach they're not the greatest value. The owners are a friendly lot of younger Thais, and while the whole set up is a bit strange, if you want to stay cool and don't mind being away from the beach you could do worse than Serene.
