A good deal for the money

Description
Not too far from Hat Yai's shopping district, the Sakol recently refurbished, though it appears more money was spent on the foyer and carpet than the individual rooms. Chatty and friendly staff keep the rooms spotless, and for the money, the Sakol is quite a good deal. The rooms all have tv, aircon and hot water bathrooms, but have no bathtubs.

Lee Gardens Plaza Hotel
29 Prachathipat Rd, Hat Yai
This huge, 33 floor landmark has quite handy, good value rooms for the mid-range traveller. The hotel sits atop a shopping and office tower with the foyer on level 10 and the views from the higher floors are not surprisingly magnificent. Security is good here with the corridors on each floor sealed... more

Sakura Grand View
186 Niphat Uthit 3 Rd, Hat Yai
This aptly named hotel does indeed have grand views, particularly from the street-side rooms. The hotel is popular both with foriegn and local tourists, the Sakura has professional and particularly helpful staff. The 230 rooms in this 18 floor hotel are well-sized and spotlessly clean and are all... more

Grand Plaza Hotel
24/1 Sanehanusorn Rd, Hat Yai
While it doesn't look too large from the street, the Grand Plaza Hotel is a pretty sizeable place with clean moderately sized rooms with all the standard fittings. The pool on the third floor is a plus as is the very central location near Hat Yai's shopping and eating district. Staff can be a... more

The Regency Hotel
28 Prachathipat Rd, Hat Yai
The Regency looks flash from outside, but inside, the hotel is looking pretty much due for a refurbishment. The 33 floors pretty much guarantee great views and while the rooms are clean, we found them (and particularly the corridors) to be pretty musty. Rooms have air-con, tv and fridge, though in... more

Sakura Hotel
186 Niphat Uthit Rd, Hat Yai
The ugly sister to the Grand View across the road, the Sakura Hotel has faded and torn carpet, scuffed walls and a general lacklustre and stale atmosphere. Romms are small and while they are clean, they're looking pretty old. The elevator here is very slow -- bring a good... more

BP Grand Tower Hotel
74 Sanehanusorn Rd, Hat Yai
Incredibly bubbly and helpful frontdesk staff here are a major asset, though the rooms do not match the glitzy foyer area. The pool is another big plus. The rooms are fair-sized with tv and air-con but they're well aged now and there are better deals available in town. The hotel is a five to ten... more

Hat Yai Central Hotel
180-181 Niphat Uthit 3 Rd, Hat Yai
This large 250 rooms hotel has certainly passed its prime, and the rock-bottom rates reflect that, making the Hat Yai Central, overall a quite good value option. While the medium-sized rooms are very well kept, they're looking old and the bathtubs in particularly were not very clean. On the upside,... more

The Florida Hotel
8 Sripoovanart Rd, Hat Yai
While the Florida is a fifteen minute walk from the centre of Hat Yai, it remains quite good value. Rooms are clean and have tv and air-con and some have good views, and while there is some traffic noise, it remains bearable. The foyer has internet access and the brochure photo for the Cleopatra... more
