Asian Hotel

Lots of perks

Photo of Asian Hotel, 55 Niphat Uthit 3 Rd, Hat Yai. , Hat Yai

What we say: 3.5 stars

The Asian Hotel is another centrally located winner that makes up for its slightly higher rate with lots of amenities – it's a breath of fresh air compared to the impersonal Diamond Plaza across the street. They have 184 spacious rooms and with their large windows they offer some great views of central Hat Yai and beyond. An added bonus is the minibar and a safety deposit box. WiFi is also available in the room for a small fee and they throw in a welcome fruit basket. The colourful hotel decor is a touch cliche but definitely cheery. Staff seem genuinely concerned about the quality of your stay and go out of their way to be friendly. The hotel has a restaurant and full bar on site as well as a lively karaoke club. The higher rates are inclusive of a daily breakfast bar and unless you are a big breakfast eater that extra 250 baht could be put to better use elsewhere.

Vanessa eventually based herself in Langkawi and settled into the island lifestyle. The location offered a gateway to Southeast Asia, from where she continues her exploration of Malaysia, Burma, Thailand, Laos, Vietnam, Indonesia, Hong Kong and other destinations on her 'to-do' list.
