Description
Kallapangha -- spelling varies depending on which of their many signs you happen to be reading -- is one of the older, very basic setups on Mae Haad and one of the friendliest. With just a handful of tightly-packed bungalows at a low price, Kallapangha stays mostly full much of the time. The rooms are charming and bright from the outside though worn and a bit mildewy inside. Kallapangha also offers the cheapest laundry service on Mae Haad beach at 35B/kilo, and a 24-hour mini mart (assuming they don't fall asleep). The beachfront restaurant is a great place toenjoy delicious and inexpensive Thai food and fresh fruit shakes. Kallapangha's Karma Bar is a cool place to hang out at night with its ambient lighting and music and decent drink deals. Located near the piers, Kallapangha is great for backpackers who want to be near the beach and have a mellow place to relax. Be warned: the local rooster population that crows incessantly, sometimes for hours at a time, in the wee hours of the morning.
