Coral View Resort
High quality seclusion

What we say:
Coral View Resort, a hidden paradise set along Haad Sai Daeng, offers a range of accommodation from the beachside and up into the well kept valley and serene gardens. Relaxing, snorkelling, swimming, kayaking or hypnotic wave counting are the order of the day in this peaceful part of the island. The Coral View Restaurant is a bit spendy but offers good food and even better views of the beach. Safety boxes are available (20B/access) as are laundry (60B/kilo) and internet (3B/minute). A small range of necessities such as sun cream, insect repellent and batteries are available in the restaurant. The simple yet spacious and clean wooden huts area little more expensive than the same thing on the busier beaches but if you are looking for peace and quiet in beautiful surroundings then it's definitely worth it. The road out is very steep but if you do want to head into town a schedule taxi service operates out and back twice a day and is just 100B each way. Private taxis will cost around 300-500B.

Peaceful Paradise
Coral View Resort was an excellent place to relax and recuperate after The Full Moon Party in January. They offer a free pick-up service when you arrive at the pier, which makes getting there a piece of cake, and the rollercoaster ride in is pretty exciting. Those hills are STEEP, no joke. I stayed in the highest hut on the hill, and while it was a bit of a hike to get to bed every night, the view was well worth it. The hut was clean and comfortable: fan, mosquito net, a big bed with clean sheets, two bottles of water, and a clean bathroom (although the water pressure leaves something to be desired, but it's hard to complain when you're in paradise). The porch, although small, is excellent for relaxing on. Be aware, of course, that you are in the jungle. Wildlife is not shy about hanging out on your porch. My girlfriend got a nice surprise one day when she discovered a large salamander in our bathroom. The huts are just that, huts. You can see through the spaces in the floorboards and there are spaces between the boards that make up the walls, but the hut is very clean (and cleaned regularly) and well-kept. The restaurant is a bit pricy, but the food is excellent. I ate one of the best cheeseburgers I had on Koh Tao (and I LOVE cheeseburgers) there. The atmosphere is unbeatable: right on the the postcard beautiful beach. Romantic indeed. Snorkeling here is fantastic, and the beach is hard to beat. It's wonderfully peaceful and secluded. I really can't recommend Coral View enough. There is not one single thing I can complain about. Stay here if you are looking for absolute relaxation and a nice tan. If you are looking to party hard every night, or even one night, I'd recommend staying on Haad Sairee.
