Phrueksa Beach Resort
Close to Thong Sala

What we say:
The closest spot to the east of Thong Sala pier, Phrueksa has a slightly classier feel than other setups on this stretch of beach and the swimming pool is handy as the beach isn't great for swimming. A sundeck and large sandy zone border the beach and are ideal for sunbathers, but a retaining wall detracts from the beauty of the location. Phrueksa's beachfront rooms are ugly concrete units whose bright pastel paint-jobs do anything but blend in with the surrounds, but they're clean and well-maintained. The remainder of the bungalows are simple island-style wooden huts spread in rows around the large palm grove. These too are clean and spacious, certainly sufficient for the price, and they're larger and better placed than the newer concrete air-con rooms.

Truely not impressed
We stayed in one of the fan rooms. The bed is fine but the bathroom was bucket flush with a hole in the receptacle, the shower didnt have enough water pressure for the water to do anything more than dribble down the wall and when you turned it on the smell of*******would waft in the air vent. We stayed for a week and they never cleaned the room in that time or emptied our trash. We met a couple of girls who had air conditioned rooms and I looked in their room. It was certainly a lot better then ours, although they were robbed in the middle of the night while they were asleep. The lock on their door looked to have been repetitively tampered with. Also, if you want to use their safety boxes, they aren't located behind the desk like in most hotels, they are in a separate room and you are required to provide your own padlock.
