Pastel lunacy

Description
A two-storey lavender hotel-style by the pool on the beach was never going to fit in with the surrounds and Great Bay 2 doesn't even try. Pastel lunacy aside, its rooms are quite comfortable and most are very well-equipped, though some of the interior colour schemes also leave something to be desired. That said, the service is very helpful and friendly and the large restaurant serves a good selection of western food and Thai standards and has homemade ice cream.

never again(money hungry) -
By papa ( total comments: 4  More information please ) Stayed here 10/2007
we were on the ferry to ko pha ngan.we were approached by clean-cut fella whome claimed to work for thai-tourism.he had the official name tag and binder.he offered us a phamphlet(he had many) from great bay resort(his employer!) and quoted us 700bt/night.he had 24 people rounded up by the time the ferry pulled in(10pm).as soon as we turned off the main road we encountered a barely passable mud road.we arrived at the resort and the 2 women behind the desk were busy registering people and telling them the price goes up the next day to 1600bt.what!!!many were arguing,as we were that it was 700bt.they were told to go somewhere else.wow!10pm.they would also have to take the resorts ''taxi''at twice the price because other taxi's could not drive the muddy road.later a driver told me they were not allowed to pick up from the resort.trickery.the 2 women were busy our whole stay counting money and arguing with unhappy people.no hot water.slow and pricey internet.poor food.poor maid service etc.

Mac Bay Resort
Ao Ban Tai, Ko Pha Ngan
The new home of the Black Moon Party, Mac Bay Resort is frequented by a predominantly younger crowd, but party people of all ages stay here, and it's a fine family spot when the party's not on. This stretch of beach is the best on Ban Tai with the widest strip of softer than average sand. The staff... more

Hansa Resort
Ao Ban Tai, Ko Pha Ngan
Hansa is one of the most peaceful midrange resorts around. Nothing but palm groves lie on either side of the resort, so there are no crowds on the beach, which is wider and sandier than most parts of Ban Tai, and it's quiet. A small swimming pool and intimate little cafe sit near the beach, and... more

Power Beach Resort
145/10 Moo 1, Ao Ban Tai, Ko Pha Ngan
Power Beach Resort is definitely popular and has a great pool just a coconut's throw away from the beach. The bungalows are good enough, ranging from basic island-style huts to round concrete affairs, but are as packed in as tightly as the bodies around the pool the day before a Full Moon Party.... more
