Description
The Anantara is the first of the large resorts you'll reach upon heading west from Fisherman's village. When entering the grounds you'll see the vask bulk of the rooms set in two three storey wings which run down to the beach on your left and right. In the centre there's a spacious lawn area bisected by a gleamingly tiled and waist deep lotus-filled pond. This entrance is spectacular -- you will take a photo. Immaculate rooms, for the money are very good value and come with all the mod cons including in-room ADSL and a surprising flourish for detail, we loved the siamese fighting fish in each room! If you're not fussed about private pool villas and are more than comfortable in a hotel-style room, the Anantara is rather good value. Very popular with wedding parties and keep an eye out for the monkey motifs littered throughout the resort. When we visited in June 2006, there was a substantial construction site to the east, so be sure to ask about noise before making a booking.
