Description
This slick resort opened in early 2004, and has two main categories of accommodation: rooms in a three-storey building at the rear of the resort and spacious villas towards the beach. The well-sized rooms unfortunately don't all have balconies, but they're otherwise very comfortable with that wood-and-linen look which is now all the rage in Thailand. The bungalows are also very well sized, but the wooden verandas seem to be a bit of an after-thought. Overall the rooms are by far the better value options. The pool out the front is large but it's beside an unofficial thoroughfare from Chaweng's main drag to the beach, so the passing traffic detracts a little from the atmosphere. The resort is attached to a large plaza full of boutique stores, and it's a little difficult to tell where the plaza ends and Iyara begins. Rates are high, though huge discounts are available. We were offered 65% off without trying too hard. It's in a good, central location. Their spa gets very good reports.

Baan Haad Ngam
154 Moo 2 Chaweng Beach, Ko Samui
This lovely resort remains one of our favourite top-end choices on Chaweng, in no small part due to the outstanding staff, who we've found to be exceptionally friendly and helpful every time we've visited. Very stylish rooms set behind a reasonable beach location and a great horizon pool creates a... more

Amari Palm Reef Resort
Chaweng Beach, Ko Samui
For the money, the Amari is excellent value, and we found the staff to be excellent - knowledgable and extremely friendly. The deluxe rooms are across the road from the beach, in a series of three-storey buildings nestled in exquisite grounds. When we visited in May 2006 the beachside portion of... more

Chaweng Blue Lagoon
99 Moo 2 Chaweng Beach, Ko Samui
The bulk of the rooms at this mid-sized Thai-style hotel are in the two-storey building near the road, separated from the beach by lovely frangipani-filled gardens and a good-sized pool. A pretty, well-shaded stretch of beach beckons out front, though it isn't so great for swimming, as the water is... more

Chaba Cabana
160/2 Moo 2 Chaweng Beach
The large Chaba Cabana is bright and colourful, from the bedspreads to the tiling to the kind of strange wooden totems dotted throughout. We're not quite sure what they were trying to achieve with the totems, but regardless, the rooms are spacious and spotless. Throw in the large pool and a... more
