Description
Palm Island's best option are the free-standing bungalows, the smaller (and cheaper) ones in particular are a good deal with slate walled bathrooms and glass-walled bathrooms (albeit cheapened with a granny's shower-curtain), four poster beds with large windows you can open wide to catch the seabreeze. The standard rooms are scruffy and worn, but, by Chaweng's standards are passable value. Outside of the rooms, the multi-level pool and reasonably spacious grounds add to the resort's appeal. The second floor rooms have large verandas overlooking the pool and beach in the distance. The beachfront bungalows are a step above the smaller bungalows but are overpriced. All rooms are air-con with hot water, western bathrooms, TV and mini-bar. Standard rooms have no water views.

This was a great place -
By rubygates ( total comments: 4  More information please ) Stayed here 12/
Palm Island is located on the quieter area of Cheweng beach, which made this place ideal. Mainly Europeans stayed here and never did the place feel stiff or privileged as it was more family oriented. We stayed in the bungalows for two nights and thought they were reasonable (especially compared to other locations on the beach) and quite nice. The next three nights we stayed on the second floor seaview room which was a step down from the bungalow, of course, but just as pleasant. The staff here is very nice with a pleasant sense of humour. The pool is just ten steps from the beach and we hung out around the pool, but swam in the warm ocean. Food was ok, and we ate our lunches most often at Palm. We walked the beach for breakfast and dinners...which was a lot of fun as there are some great places along the beach. We're definetely staying here again.

Chaweng Bay View Resort
9/39 Moo 2, Chaweng Beach
Perched up on the northern Chaweng hillside with views over Chaweng Bay and Matlang Island, Chaweng Bay View has a great selection of room styles for a small resort. The airy rooms are decked out with Thai silk and cotton fabrics and beautiful paintings and decorations, giving them a cosy... more

Muang Kulaypan Hotel
100 Moo 2 Chaweng Beach, Ko Samui
East meets West in this unusual hotel. It's starting to age and has a slightly neglected feel, thanks largely to the overgrown gardens and lawns. A major issue here is the low ceiling beams on the second-storey of the building -- anyone over about 170cm tall will have to duck to avoid knocking... more

Samui Natien Resort
Chaweng Beach, Ko Samui
The ageing Samui Natien offers two styles of accommodation: individual bungalows and hotel rooms in a three-storey building. Despite its verdant gardens the resort feels a bit wedged in, particularly beachside where the pool, restaurant and solitary beachside bungalow compete for space. Rooms and... more

Family Bungalow
119 Moo 2 North Chaweng Beach, Ko Samui
With its bright colours and very good beachside bar, Family promises a lot and almost delivers. The suites here are the main attraction, with a split level layout and if you have children this style could be a winner. The pool is at the rear of the resort and feels more like a home pool than a... more

Corto Maltese
119/2 Chaweng Beach, Ko Samui
Corto is a small, comfortable resort with well-shaded concrete bungalows, all with aircon, hot water and big beds. This time around we found the staff to be very friendly and helpful, though the pictures of Corto hanging over the bed are still a bit much. Rooms have the bed on a raised level with a... more

Papillon Resort
1-2 Chaweng Beach Road, Chaweng Beach, Ko Samui
This friendly place is the northernmost spot on Chaweng, with good views out to Ko Matlang. They've built a retaining wall to keep their position here, and behind it there's a pool, along with a kiddies splash pool and very good restaurant. The freestanding rooms are set in a walled enclosure... more

Samui Island Resort
Chaweng Beach, Ko Samui
While it certainly isn't the prettiest building on Chaweng Beach, the new multi-storey hotel building at Samui Island Resort offers stunning views over the surrounds, with the front rooms having sought-after wrap around balconies with oodles of room. Inside the decor isn't anything spectacular, but... more
