Baan Talay Resort
Lovely gardens

What we say:
Most of the bungalows here run around the edge of the rather good umbrella-encircled pool. They're a fair size, though there are two rooms to a bungalow, so hope for quiet neighbours. The beachfront bungalows are considerably more expensive when really the only major difference is the private sunning area you get. The gardens here are well-loved, with a great stretch of orchids as you enter. Very popular spot.

baan talay: they clearly don't know that they're in the land of smiles...
We encountered various problems whilst staying at the Baan Talay; the staff were rude and unhelpful, service in the restaurant was very slow and food was average and expensive, we had problems with ants in the room and our door lock didn't work well so we didn't feel the room was secure. On our last full day we were relaxing by the pool when around 30 kids arrived for a party, totally disturbing the peace and meaning we had to move. As guests we should have at least been told about this, but really they should not have forfeited their paying guest's satisfaction just to make a few extra bucks hosting a private party. Whilst we were there we witnessed at least three arguments between guests checking out and the reception staff, who were completely unreasonable - they threatened to call the police when we contested paying 60 baht for two glasses we'd left by the pool instead of in our room! In summary, the resort itself is nice enough but the staff's complete disregard of decent, in fact any, customer service means that we would never return to or recommend the Baan Talay.
