Description
If you're not fussed about creature comforts, Lucky Mother has old style wooden huts running down to their small beachfront restaurant. You're talking seriously no frills here, with basic bathrooms and super-soft mattresses, but for the money, in this part of Chaweng, these huts are a steal. Friendly staff. Can get very noisy at night, so pack earplugs.

Revolting! -
By lucy_lovin_it ( total comments: 2  More information please ) Stayed here 6/2007
I travelled Thailand and Southeast Asia for six months, spending three months alone in Thailand. Lucky Mother is the worst accommodation I have EVER seen! It was absolutely disgusting. Bathroom door hanging on by a hinge, it was filthy and stank, you could also see in from outside -- nice for the builders working a few feet away. The bed was uncomfortable and absolutely filthy. The walls seemed to have been used instead of toilet paper, in the bathroom and room! The staff were rude and unhelpful, the rudest I have met in Thailand. They own about 100 dogs and cats, so you can imagine the smell (some are caged in the restaurant). DO NOT STAY HERE. We left early and lost our money, but were pleased to leave.

Have you stayed at Lucky Mother? What did you think?

Charlie's Huts
Chaweng Beach, Ko Samui
The long-running Charlie's Huts is closing in June 2006 to makeway for a new Amari Resort. One of the last of the backpacker havens on Chaweng, your best bet for a cheap bed on Chaweng beach is now towards the northern end of the... more

Dew Drop Hut
Chaweng Beach, Ko Samui
Set in a block of very overgrown jungle and one of Chaweng's few remaining true backpacker options, Dew Drop has an abandoned air only heightened by the difficulty of finding anyone who actually works there. The bungalows are very generously sized classic bungalows, with fan and really dingy cold... more

Best Beach Bungalows
Central Chaweng Beach, Ko Samui
With a bunch of old style wooden bungalows, Best Beach certainly isn't the best place to stay, but if you're on a tight budget, it may well be a cheap place to stay. Huts are simple wooden affairs with basic bathrooms and balconies. There is a small restaurant on the beach. Air-con huts are not... more

Green Guesthouse
156/7 Moo 2 Chaweng Beach, Ko Samui
Green Guesthouse is located off the beach but still on the beach side of the Chaweng Road. The handful of rooms are fan cooled or air-con and, even in peak season are good tight-budget value for such a central location. In high season reservations are recommended. Rooms and bathrooms are clean and... more
