Description
One of the most famous hotels on Ko Samui, the Boat House is known for its 34 deluxe suites modelled in restored rice barges that have been dragged up onto land. It's an interesting idea and though the boats are well-decked out, it feels little peculiar to be inside them -- and at rates at over USD150 a night, we'd expect a bed rather than a mattress chucked on the floor. While the boats are kind of quirky and overpriced, the hotel-style rooms in the buildings surrounding the boatyard are far better value. The grounds which run around the massive cannon-encircled pool are the highlight here.

Total rooms: 210

The White House Hotel
59/3 Moo 5 Choeng Mon Beach, Ko Samui
The White House looks promising, but it's overpriced, particularly the superior rooms, which are dim and cave-like. They have a series of two-storey Thai-style villas where the superior rooms are on the ground floor and the deluxe are above, and then a series of larger suites near the pool. None... more

Samui Peninsula Spa and Resort
24/73 Moo 5 Choeng Mon Beach, Ko Samui
You're a good long walk away from the beach here, but chances are you'll not be leaving the resort much. A contemporary Thai style resort, Samui Peninsula has breathtaking views over the beach and a nearby islet of Ko Farn Noi and a particularly tempting horizon pool that looks to simply drop off... more
