The Tongsai Bay
Samui's original luxury hideaway

What we say:
Family-owned The Tongsai Bai opened in 1987 and is one of Samui's original luxury hideaways. The resort sits on 25 acres of spectacular land, with the accommodation ideally positioned on the hillside and along the beach to make the most of the views, while blending into the natural surroundings. Accommodation ranges from the much photographed beachfront suites, located in a building, to large private pool villas. Standard five-star facilities can be found in the suites, and rooms are serviced both morning and early evening. Large bathtubs, positioned on the balconies to catch the sunsets, add a romantic feel (and glossed airline magazines for years!). The swimming pool is located alongside the resort's private beach, as is the beach bar, which offers casual dining. The Tongsai Bay also offers a fine-dining restaurant, as well as the services of a private chef in the villas. Rates are high for the standard and age of the resort. Coming from Chaweng, turn right at the yellow bank in Choeng Mon, and follow the road up the hill, 300m. The entrance well signposted to the right.
