Description
Set on an 80-metre stretch of Choeng Mon Beach, the opening of Sala Samui has really driven the luxury benchmark on Choeng Mon up quite a few notches. The stylish, immaculate rooms leave precious little to be desired -- and at these prices you'd not expect to be left lacking -- anything. The vast majority have private pools -- which are refreshing well sized and while you still couldn't do laps in one you could certainly swing a cat in one (albeit a very wet cat). Grounds are a switch from the tropical overgrown feel, with a restrained, spacious feel -- lots of open lawn area and while the villas are all behind quite high walls, it doesn't feel at all opressive. Beach-side there's two pools -- the black laps pool to the left and a white play pool to the right, with the beachside restaurant beyond the white pool. The hotel has proven to be a real hit and is full more often than not, so be sure to make a reservation well in advance if this is the style you're seeking. Highly recommended.
