Description
A very lively and social place, this is where the party people stay on Sunset Beach. The restaurant/bar, swimming pool and movie lounge are always crowded at this immensely popular setup. Coral throws regular pool parties and also has a Full Moon warm up to get things going on the right foot. Red stone bungalows and guest house buildings line the shaded garden. Accommodations for all budgets include fan bungalows, which are a little smelly but spacious and clean, and larger, more comfy rooms in the guest house with hot showers and air-con. Though most rooms are set back away from the pool and party area, steer clear if you're looking for a tranquil place to stay. The young and lively crowd here pays no heed to the phases of the moon, they just want to party.

Party hotel! -
By whitecat ( total comments: 4  More information please ) Stayed here 2/2007
Stayed here for four nights for the Feb Full Moon Party. Its definitely a party hotel, the average age of the guests was about 20, and most seemed to be from Melbourne. The waiters at the restaurant just wanted everyone to have a good time. Stayed in an a/c room with a double bed and a single. For some reason there were no sheets, this seemed to be a common problem amongst other guests at the hotel. The rooms were pretty basic but still very nice. The hotel is right on the beach, but the beach isn't that great. The pool is nice and the food at the restaurant is good and pretty cheap. Not the place to stay if you want to relax, there are parties every night around the pool.

Okay but a few minor criticisms -
By Emmett70 ( total comments: 7  More information please ) Stayed here 12/2004
Staying here was a mixed bag. The water went off a couple of times which isn't ideal when you've just come back from the gym and want a shower. Also the electricity went off one night which meant the fan went off which meant I got bitten as the room didn't have a mosquito net. On the other hand the staff were friendly and the restaurant served nice tasting meals. However, the meals would regularly be served with items missing, e.g. set breakfast without the bacon, American fried rice without the fried egg, and occasionally they would overcharge slightly for meals. Overall it wouldn't be my first choice for a place to stay, but despite my criticisms I still thought it was okayish.

Also, the prices when I were there were 150B, 200B and 300B for fan rooms/bungalows, and 500B for air-con.

Seaside
Haad Rin West, Ko Pha Ngan
Seaside is one of the best values spots around, and the atmosphere is great. Small wooden huts with fan or air-con and some huge bungalows for three people are scattered around a large grassy grove. All rooms are well-built and very clean with large bathrooms, and they're easy on the bank account... more

Boom's Cafe Bungalows
Haad Rin West, Ko Pha Ngan
Boom's Cafe and Bungalows is an isolated and quiet spot on a rocky stretch of beach to the west of Sunset Beach. Spacious and sturdy wooden bungalows sit just off the beach facing the sea and are great value. The larger air-con units are newer and provide more comfort, still for a reasonable price,... more

Starlight Resort
Haad Rin West, Ko Pha Ngan
Starlight's sturdy and well-kept bungalows line the garden in two rows running back from a pretty wide strip of sand. The simple and inexpensive fan rooms or more expensive air-con rooms suit most travellers' budgets, and either style is in fine shape and comfortable for the price. This is a quiet... more

Bird
Haad Rin West, Ko Pha Ngan
The beach at Bird is wide, but the sand is rough, so bring a thick towel if you plan to lay out. The cheapest rooms here are cramped little wooden huts, and while they don't provide much room to move around, they are clean and sturdy with fresh bathrooms. Wooden air-con duplexes on the beach and a... more

Sun Beach Bungalow
Haad Rin West, Ko Pha Ngan
Sitting on a broader stretch of the beach makes Sun Beach much better for sunbathing than other nearby spots. The grounds are well-kept and the atmosphere very tranquil. This is a good place to escape the crowds of Haad Rin and just unwind. The bungalows take many forms from a mustard-coloured... more

Laid Back Bungalows
Haad Rin West, Ko Pha Ngan
Laid Back has a very, well, laid-back atmosphere and is very popular among backpackers, many of whom get stuck here for much longer than planned. The vibe among the staff and the guests is very friendly and tight-knit. The rooms are mostly quite basic with some very cheap wooden hovels without... more

Star Bungalows
Haad Rin West, Ko Pha Ngan
Star is quite isolated so it makes for a very peaceful and relaxing getaway. The bungalows, very basic with the option of shared or private bathrooms, are set along a shaded hillside. There is not much of a beach here, though a short walk will get you to some decent sand, and no one else is... more

Thong Yang
32/1 Moo 4, Haad Rin West, Ko Pha Ngan
Since 1994, the friendly family at Thong Yang has been providing a laid-back and affordable place to relax.
