Cocohut Beach Resort and Spa

The largest of the resorts on Haad Saikantang, Cocohut takes up a good length of the beachfront with rooms, the large restaurant, a beach bar and, to the far west, a spa and massage centre lining the beach.

The swimming pool is more of a focal point of the resort that at neighbouring Sarikantang, with the beachfront pool backing onto water features and then a row of the premium private splash pool villas. Rates are, for the standard, a solid notch up from next door. The "Wooden Bungalows" hidden off in a frangipani garden behind the bigger rooms, are probably the best deal, but have no views to speak of. Likewise in many cases the deluxe rooms in the multi-storey hotel-style building lack a beach view. Views aside, the darkened rooms are comfortable, clean and spacious, with the "senior bungalows" having dual bathroom access -- that is, a door to the bathroom on each side of the bed. The desktop computer in the room seemed a but superfluous given most travellers would probably prefer free WiFi (while there is free WiFi in the restaurant, there is a surcharge to use it in the room), but that's a minor quibble. The hotel-style rooms, with their white-tiled floors and plenty of natural light, feel more hotel style and less beach holiday than we'd have liked. Cocohut Beach Resort has Israeli travellers as the vast majority of their guests. Booking online should yield significant discounts. Overall we preferred Sarikantang -- particularly for families --but for the midrange to luxurious traveller looking for comfortable digs close to Haad Rin, this is still a reasonable offering.
