Wind Beach Resort
Neat Thai-style wooden bungalows

What we say:
Wind Beach offers neat Thai-style wooden bungalows and accommodation in adjoined concrete rooms, but all have small balcony areas. These rooms line a sandy path leading back from the beach and offer access to Sairee Village in seconds through a small alley off to the right at the top of the path. Rooms are good value given their excellent location. The beachfront restaurant serves both Thai and Western meals and is very fairly priced for beachfront eating.

Keep looking
Ended up at the Wind Beach Resort after visiting several other guesthouses in Sairee. We got quite the sticker shock on Koh Tao having come from Koh Samui. Everything is so expensive! We got a bungalow across from the restaurant not far from the beach for 700 baht per night, two twin beds and a fan. The best thing I can say for this place is that at least there was hot water. Taking a shower totally flooded the bathroom and took ages to finally drain away. I asked for someone to come take a look, but nobody ever showed up. We also had a huge cockroach show up in the middle of the night. That was the only bug that ever bothered me in Thailand, and there were many many bugs to be found. The beach itself was highly unimpressive and not well tended at all, it looked quite dirty and there was a lot of longtail boat traffic making the water very murky as well. If you're looking to get drunk and party, Sairee is a good place to do it. If you're looking for some place nice, clean and on the quieter side, at a reasonable backpacker rate, look elsewhere.
