Sairee View
A cool hilltop hangout

What we say:
Sairee View makes you feel like you're at the top of the island, and you pretty much are. Very isolated at the top of a rocky staircase up a boulder-littered hillside north of Sairee, Sairee View is a very peaceful spot for backpackers. The view from the grassy hilltop is phenomenal and never gets old. The all white restaurant and bar deck serves simple, well-priced food and drinks and is an amazing place to watch the sun go down and chill out. The ten rooms are basic wooden Thai-style bungalows and all have hot showers with fan and mosquito net .The friendly staff are happy to help and the resort offers free internet too. Bizarrely, a main feature within the resort is a whale skeleton.

keep ya fit + its friendly
This place has very friendly staff and is good value. The huts are clean and come with towels and good mosquito nets. We had a double room and the bed was quite large. Bathroom okay with good shower. The hotel has a little restaurant and bar area which is a great place to watch the sunset. Okay selection and value is pretty much the same as most mid-range places. It's very relaxed. It's fairly quiet at night - you can hear the occasional boom boom boom of base (I think it drifts up from Sairee beach) but its not too bad (I slept through it most nights). My clothes did get a bit damp staying here - but I guess that is staying in a wooden hut near the sea? And the lighting is a little dim in the huts in the evening - so bring a torch/lamp for reading in bed. It's on top of a hill - if not renting a bike (which we didn't) this place with keep you fit as you walk up and down the hill to Sairee village and beach - but its only a 20 minute walk. Recommended.

maybe an option for non-divers
Nice place, but quite far from the beach if you're on foot, and the road is very steep for motorbikes. When I stayed here there was very few activity (maybe the low season?) and the manager looked like more Thai than French to me.

Best place on Ko Tao
Sairee View Resort is beautiful. It's a short walk to the beach but well worth it as the views are the best on the island. The restaurant is excellent and cheap, and you can rent a motorbike here. Don't stay anywhere else! Good for single travellers, families, couples and people who love to relax.
