Nestled about 100 metres off the main access road, Baan Khao Sok was our top budget to mid range pick for its winning combination of simple but tastefully comfortable rooms at reasonable prices, scenic, shady grounds beside the gently babbling Sok River, and sincere, family run atmosphere. Rooms come in two forms and all are situated far apart from one another amidst many trees and tropical plants. Budget bamboo bungalows are small and simple with fans, basic hot water bathrooms, comfortable beds draped in mosquito nets, several windows, and small but cute front porches with bamboo chairs. A bit further out in the trees are their wooden tree houses with spiral staircases, large front porches, and spacious rooms with comfortable raised beds with mosquito nets, woven bamboo walls, fans, large, clean hot water bathrooms, and more than enough tall windows for letting in the breeze. There's also a restaurant on site, and the resort arranges tours of the area. It's best to book ahead as this place often fills up, especially in the dry months from December to March.
