If Jungle Huts has a friendly, laid back vibe, nearby Baan Rimnan would be laid back without the friendliness. That's not to say it's rude to guests, it's just that it's more of a so you want a room, go look yourself kind of a place. The rooms themselves are solid for the prices, and are quite a bit larger than what we found elsewhere for the same rates. Bungalows are made of a mix of stone and wood and are raised above the ground. Most have large porches and are set near the Sok River as it curves. There's a communal platform with some tables right along the river and overall this is a pleasant spot to relax. Inside all rooms are rustic with wood floors, fans, foam beds covered in mosquito nets, and several windows without screens. Bathrooms are basic throughout, but only the cheapest don't have hot water. Don't expect the guys working here to go out of their way to help you with much, but if you want a cheap, no frills spot that isn't going to try to sell you tours, Baan Rimnan is a good choice. Rates negotiable for low season.
