With a prime beach location, Big Blue’s restaurant spills on to this unspoiled beach lined with two rows of plastic deck chairs.
These are the only chairs this end of the beach and are open to anyone -- you can order and have the staff deliver to you without having to move. This is the place everyone hangs out. Good-sized fan bungalows are lined in rows behind, with the exception of some scattered standalone bungalows leading into the hillside. Each has a decent balcony with chairs, and hammock hooks if you happen to have your own. No mosquito nets, but the windows are fitted with fly screens. Most rooms have one large bed and a few have twins. In mid-2014 they bought new beds for some rooms, but the old are still sunken. The bathrooms are a little rundown but have flush toilets and cold-water shower. The higher rooms with a view over the bay cost slightly more. There are an additional two bungalows that sleep four with two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a small entrance room, an upstairs and downstairs balcony. Our advice would be to check your room and bed first. The good ones are great but the older ones feel musty. The restaurant has a seating area as well as a reclining area on cushions with low coffee tables. They host two movies each evening and the staff are sweet and friendly. The only internet cafe on Haad Yuan belongs to Big Blue, where you can use their computers or buy WiFi. They also run the most well-stocked shop on this bay opposite the restaurant. Big Blue is walk-in only (no bookings).
