Big Blue is the most happening place on Haad Yuan, attracting a lively, younger clientele. The rooms suit most budgets and can accommodate up to four people. The wooden bungalows are clean and comfortable, spread along the hillside garden just off the beach. They offer plenty of activities to keep guests occupied, including the only basketball court in the area (if not the island), as well as beach volleyball, kayaks (50-70B/hour) and other sports equipment. For those who want to relax, sun chairs and a movie lounge in the cosy restaurant are good places to flop for a while. With a gift shop and mini mart, they seem to have it all here. A fun choice and good value.

Not bad
Big blue has some of the newest bungalows on the beach, and new ones were being built when we were there. Overall they weren't anything special and being in a remote area we had a fair amount of big bugs and stuff in our room as well as a pair of big fat geckos that lived in the ceiling. The worst part was they would come out when we weren't around and poo all over our stuff and our bedding! I would suggest trying to get a bungalow closer to the beach if you want to avoid all nature has to offer, although I'm not sure that would really make any difference. The staff at big blue were quite nice although the restaurant was sub-par although the movie showings are a plus. I'd recommend eating at either bamboo (for quality touristy food) or at the place on the other side of the beach owned by the swedish guy. They have fresh seafood brought in daily and I had the some very good food there. We ended up having dinner at that place almost every night, and it seemed like a lot of people were doing the same thing we were. Overall Big Blue was OK. We also stayed at Barcelona a few nights before getting kicked out due to reservations by a tour group. It was just as good and a little cheaper too. Haad Yuan is such a beautiful place that you really won't spend too much time in your room anyways.
