Description
Like many setups on Thong Nai Pan Noi, Baan Panburi's bungalows are not right on the beach. Rather, the small thatch huts are packed together along a cement path in a palm grove, giving it a tropical village feel. The huts are quite charming and well-kept, though the cheapest and oldest are showing their age and feature wooden shutter windows, while newer ones have glass windows and a much sturdier feel. All of the rooms could stand to be a bit cheaper, though. The reception area gives this place a more serious and professional feel than the rest of the relaxed resort and has an internet room with WiFi. The laid-back beach restaurant and bar add a nice touch with island themes and daily happy hour specials.

They tried to rent us a room for full price that was faced a construction site just inches away. The noise was loud, and the huts were crap! Really dirty. I don't know what these people are thinking!

Starting in september 2006 Baan Panburi will move the Beachfront bures up on the mountain behind the resort and build new very expensive family bungalows (10000 bath ?) and a pool
The bathroom is a big disappointment - ![]()

Don't get me wrong, I liked staying at Baan Pan Buri and Thong Nai Pan Noi. However, I'm a bit picky about bathrooms and toilets and I have to say that the bathroom in their New Island Hut is a big disappointment. The walls and the floor needs a good scrubing.
There is little or almost no natural light coming in the hut unless you open the window. Unfortunately, this window doesn't have a screen, so you can only leave it open when you're awake since humans with malicious intent can easily climb inside your room through it.
They provide a mosquito net in the huts. USE IT. if you don't like using mosquito nets, apply insect repellant generously.
The resort itself is very beautiful. I've received great service from their staff. The food at their restaurant is superb!
As for the noise at night. Were there any? I must be deaf.

The beach itself was beautiful. The bure I stayed in my first night was lovely. The cheaper bungalow I moved to when my mate arrived (she was on a tighter budget) was perfectly acceptable. The restaurant was very good, and the bbq particularly so. The massages are great here too. Overall, a massive thumbs up - one of my fave places I stayed at!

-New Island Huts 650BTH in Lowseason - Impudence!!! Not worth 200 Bath! Booked 3 Nights, but left after just 2! Bathroom bloody dity, a lot of hair in the washbasin, 2 glasses for cleaning teeth full of dirt. Roomservice never seen! Couldn't stay outside, because of dog-**** under the hut was stinking terribly. Fan didn't work well! Sheets old and smelly!
- Restaurant:Slow service! Sometimes they just ignored the people intentionally. Tried to add the BBQ-bill from the evening before on the new bill!!!
- Confirmed Pick-up on-arrival in Thonsala through Booking-agency in Hua Hin-nobody there! For going back, you've to buy a ticket at the reception(100Bath)-again no free Shuttle-service! They rip off customers with their seclusion!
- Secluded, but not quiet! Very loud music every night in the restaurant and a bar nearby. Couldn't sleep until the early morning! Bawling crowd! Mass-dispatch everywhere! Staff smile seems like facade, like the whole ''Baan Panburi-family''! Don't know, who stayed there for the ''Lonely Planet''? He must be pissed all day!
Not to recommend! Forget it!
- Try it elsewhere, e.g. at ''Thong Nai Pan Resort''!Nice bungalows with AC and small pool!

The beach and the restaurant are excellent. We stayed in two seaview New Island Huts (650 baht) and the only thing ''new'' about them was the layer of black mold all over the bathroom walls. The place would be great if they did some minor maintenance such as fixing the leaking roof, getting rid of the cockroaches in the bathroom, and a screen on the window.

We spent just one day at Baan Pranburi, but we went back day by day because of the good restaurant and food.

Just spent four nights here. Cheapest huts are basic but fine and everything else is great. The beach is awesome - silky sand and perfect blue sea. Food really good and staff helpful - especially Mr Cahi. He is a Burmese waiter and is a really fun, helpful character. Great value and setting.

Star Hut
PO Box 10 Thong Nai Pan Noi, Ko Pha Ngan
Star Hut is a happy and laid-back place toward the southern end of Thong Nai Pan Noi. Most of its rooms are placed together in several rows off the beach, but beach access is just a moment away, and the friendly folks at Star Hut offer a good many services. The huts are all relatively basic with... more
