Description
Star Hut is a happy and laid-back place toward the southern end of Thong Nai Pan Noi. Most of its rooms are placed together in several rows off the beach, but beach access is just a moment away, and the friendly folks at Star Hut offer a good many services. The huts are all relatively basic with the option of fan or air-con, but they're roomy with high ceilings, very clean and have very comfy beds. Usually tranquil, the proximity of the bungalows here make it feel very crowded when the place is full. The restaurant is one of the best around with a huge selection including barbecue, seafood, vegetarian and an impressive array of desserts and cocktails. Money exchange, a mini mart and internet access are provided as well as snorkel and kayak rentals. The host is a wealth of information about the island and beyond, giving great travel advice and assisting with booking. Recommended.

Excellent value -

I stayed here in 2004 and found the accommodation absolutely perfect. Right on the beach, cosey, chilled out, no frills, beautiful beach that is not overcrowded and great food. I seem to remember there being a fabulous bar along the beach 'buddha bar' i think, VERY chilled out. I am planning to go back there this year.

Best Place on the Beach, Hands Down -

By far, this is the best all-around place to stay on Thong Nai Pan Noi. The bungalows are clean and nice and best of all, quiet. There is no construction. The staff is friendly and helpful. The restaurant is right on the beach, great place to have breakfast and lunch. The Baan Panburi restaurant has more of a ''restaurant'' atmosphere for dinner, sure, but Star Hut was like a home-base for everything else. The owner is an extremely competent and well-spoken in English. They can help you book trips; they let you run a tab; they have internet; they do laundry. Anything you want or need, just ask.

I stayed here for 9 days and didn't want to leave. The huts all (except the few in the way way back) have views of the beach. Check out my pics and review on tripadvisor.com.

Good prices, nice beach -

We were here for one week, and it has good rates (900B for a nice bungalow), but the restaurant / food / services are better nearby. The bungalows are clean, have hot water and fan, so it's enough for a young couple...

Lovely! -

We stayed at Star Hut twice - it's a great place run by lovely people! The food is excellent, as is the atmosphere. They are building more upmarket huts there now -- some of which have hot running water and air-con! I'm definitely going back there next year!

Star Hut Restaurant -

We've been to Star Hut many times. The restaurant is pretty good, with Thai and western food that won't give you the shitters. The bungalows are so, so. A bit like Honey to the back. Staff could be a bit more friendly. If you like to hang with the 'cool guys' go here, that's why we only came to eat!

Have you stayed at Star Hut? What did you think?

Baan Panburi
PO Box 52, Thong Nai Pan Noi, Ko Pha Ngan
Like many setups on Thong Nai Pan Noi, Baan Panburi's bungalows are not right on the beach. Rather, the small thatch huts are packed together along a cement path in a palm grove, giving it a tropical village feel. The huts are quite charming and well-kept, though the cheapest and oldest are showing... more
