Star Hut
Very popular

What we say:
Star Hut is a happy and laid-back place toward the southern end of Thong Nai Pan Noi. Most of its rooms are placed together in several rows off the beach, but beach access is just a moment away, and the friendly folks at Star Hut offer a good many services. The huts are all relatively basic with the option of fan or air-con, but they're roomy with high ceilings, very clean and have very comfy beds. Usually tranquil, the proximity of the bungalows here make it feel very crowded when the place is full. The restaurant is one of the best around with a huge selection including barbecue, seafood, vegetarian and an impressive array of desserts and cocktails. Money exchange, a mini mart and internet access are provided as well as snorkel and kayak rentals. The host is a wealth of information about the island and beyond, giving great travel advice and assisting with booking. Recommended.

beautiful beach; good for the price
Nice little bungalow. Nothing fancy but clean room with fan and decent bathroom with hot water. You definately should bring your hammock.

Was I dreaming?
We were lucky enough to walk up one day and get an AC bungalow. Great interiors and bathroom, very clean and a balony to die for. Hammocks are a mandatory purchase here! The beach is brilliant, white sands and great for swimming. The bungalows are surrounded by planting and trees and feels absolutely secluded. The more expensive bungalows usually have a decent view of the beach without the pricetag. I would live here if I could... One of the cheaper options on the beach but heaps of beach life atmosphere.

The best place to be
I have been staying at star hut since 2003 and we keep coming back. The huts are comfortable, great views, layback, relaxing and great food. They upgrade the huts every year so we never now what to expect. They now have a massage hut outside the beach front bungalows which is a bonus. The people are amazing, friendly, great English and will do anything for you. We are going back in Jan 2010 and can't wait. I think it is the beast beach on Ko Pha-Ngan.

Better places available on the beach
Private fan bungalows are a bit drab, with plenty of ants to share your bed with.Paid 450 bht. Fine location by the beach and nice staff but competing resorts have up't their standards and at the same price. Taipan further down the beach was on the money for us and at the same price.

Best Place on the Beach, Hands Down
By far, this is the best all-around place to stay on Thong Nai Pan Noi. The bungalows are clean and nice and best of all, quiet. There is no construction. The staff is friendly and helpful. The restaurant is right on the beach, great place to have breakfast and lunch. The Baan Panburi restaurant has more of a ''restaurant'' atmosphere for dinner, sure, but Star Hut was like a home-base for everything else. The owner is an extremely competent and well-spoken in English. They can help you book trips; they let you run a tab; they have internet; they do laundry. Anything you want or need, just ask. I stayed here for 9 days and didn't want to leave. The huts all (except the few in the way way back) have views of the beach. Check out my pics and review on tripadvisor.com.

Good prices, nice beach
We were here for one week, and it has good rates (900B for a nice bungalow), but the restaurant / food / services are better nearby. The bungalows are clean, have hot water and fan, so it's enough for a young couple...

Lovely!
We stayed at Star Hut twice - it's a great place run by lovely people! The food is excellent, as is the atmosphere. They are building more upmarket huts there now -- some of which have hot running water and air-con! I'm definitely going back there next year!

Star Hut Restaurant
We've been to Star Hut many times. The restaurant is pretty good, with Thai and western food that won't give you the shitters. The bungalows are so, so. A bit like Honey to the back. Staff could be a bit more friendly. If you like to hang with the 'cool guys' go here, that's why we only came to eat!
